World Desertification and Drought Day 2026
BAHA MADZO GADZE FOR CHARITY proudly participated in the World Desertification and Drought Day 2026 commemoration held at Vipingo Central Primary School, joining government institutions, development partners, environmental organizations, and community stakeholders in advancing environmental sustainability.
Held under the global theme “Rangelands: Recognize, Respect, Restore,” the event emphasized the urgent need to restore degraded ecosystems, promote sustainable land management, and strengthen resilience against drought and climate change.
The organization was represented by its Chairperson, Mr. Steven Otieno, popularly known as Mr. Zero Plastic, who joined fellow environmental champions committed to protecting natural resources and promoting community-driven climate action.
A key highlight of the event was the recognition of both BAHA MADZO GADZE FOR CHARITY and Mr. Steven Otieno for their dedication and contribution to environmental conservation in Kilifi County.
BAHA MADZO GADZE FOR CHARITY received a Certificate of Recognition for its continued impact through environmental education, community clean-up initiatives, tree planting activities, and the Zero Plastic Era Campaign.
In addition, Mr. Steven Otieno was individually awarded a Certificate of Recognition for his personal leadership, commitment, and outstanding contribution to environmental stewardship and community mobilization.
The event brought together national and county leaders, environmental experts, development partners, and community organizations, all united in reaffirming their commitment to restoring degraded landscapes and building climate-resilient communities.
